2002 Jaguar XJR LS Swap Build Thread!
Jaguar X308 LS swap components can be found here:
After spending most of my adult life admiring the X308 XJR platform, I finally came across the right deal on a black on black 2002 XJR in February of 2020. The car was very well kept, but had roughly 220,000 miles and needed a lot of work. I got the car for a great price, and immediately brought it home for some much needed maintenance and upgrades.
The car drove great and definitely did its job of getting me around town for the better part of 2020, however it quickly became apparent that the factory engine was on its last legs in the later part of the year. It smoked on startup (most like valve sealing issues) and was consuming oil at a rather alarming rate. Fast forward to November and I received the dreaded "low oil pressure" warning on the dash. I brought the car in the shop and removed the lower oil pan only to find several chunks of plastic and metallic debris in it, which made it obvious that the car was no longer safe to be driven reliably.
The plan all along was to swap an LS based engine into this chassis so this was a rather obvious course of action. As of typing this I am at the stage of mounting and fabricating the hard parts for the swap, and I will be sharing updates as I make progress! Stay tuned for one bad ass XJR :)
